The
Resource Centre conducts research and studies for pedagogical development in
Indian classical dance.
It undertakes documentation
and codification of the teaching
methods and choreographic principles
employed by traditional gurus and
conducts seminars and workshops to
develop analytical tools and
advanced understanding in technical
and theoretical aspects of dance
with the aim of adopting the
traditional system of training to
the requirements of today’s dance
academics.
Audio visual and textual materials
generated by the resource Centre
contribute to the building up
archives to provide dance trainees
and performance scholars with an
academic reference point.
DEPARTMENT OF MOHINI
ATTAM
This
dance style was almost forgotten at
the turn of the 20th century. Dr.
kanak Rele and Nalanda. have played
a very significant role in not only
rehabilitating this dance style but,
more importantly, in creating
technically sound courses of study
for beginners as well at the
University level, Today at Nalanda
Mohini Attam is taught in the same
scientific method as the other
better established dance style. The
activities are conducted under the
guidance of the Board of Advisors
comprising of leading scholars and
experts. |
